Raoul Bunschoten was born in Deventer, NL, in 1955. He studied architecture in Michigan, New York, and Zurich before settling in London, where CHORA has its head office. Bunschoten is also Professor of Sustainable Urban Planning and Urban Design at the TU Berlin.

CHORA is an architecture, urbanism and research office that was established in 1993 by Raoul Bunschoten. It has developed a specialisation in the management of complex situations, in which multiple stakeholders with very different interests occupy a territory. CHORA has a long-term commitment to developing new methods for architectural design and urban planning that help mitigate and adapt to the challenges of climate change.
